Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has expressed deep concern over the recent misunderstanding between the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) and the Kuki community.
In a statement issued through its media cell, DUCCF appealed to both sides to exercise restraint, wisdom and maturity during the sensitive period. It stated that Nagaland has a long history of coexistence, mutual respect and brotherhood among various communities, and emphasised that the traditional values of understanding, hospitality and peaceful dialogue practised by forefathers should continue to guide present generations.
The federation said differences and disputes could be resolved through constructive dialogue and mutual respect rather than provocation or division. It stressed that preserving peace, protecting inter-community relationships and safeguarding age-old bonds were a collective responsibility.
DUCCF further called upon the leaders of CPO and the Kuki community to come together in the true spirit of reconciliation and uphold harmony for the greater interest of the people and future generations.
