The Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has strongly condemned the recent damage to public property, particularly the road divider and traffic infrastructure at Tajen Ao road, at the tri-junction of Duncan Bosti Colony, Riverbelt Colony and Fellowship Colony.
In a press release issued by its media cell, DUCCF stated that such irresponsible acts not only endangered public safety but also reflected a disregard for civic responsibility and the rule of law.
The federation informed that an FIR had been lodged at West Police Station, Dimapur, in connection with the incident. It appealed to the police to acknowledge receipt of the complaint and initiate prompt and firm action.
DUCCF further urged the Traffic Police department and West Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the culprit and ensure accountability.
It stated that public property was created and maintained with taxpayers’ money for the welfare and safety of citizens, and any wilful destruction must not go unpunished.
The federation also demanded that the accused be booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws relating to damage of public property, stating that strict legal action would serve as a deterrent.
Reiterating its commitment to safeguarding public assets and maintaining law and order in the city, DUCCF affirmed that it would pursue the matter to ensure justice and prevent recurrence of such incidents.
