The Lions Club of Dimapur (LCD) marked a major milestone in its journey of service by celebrating its 55th Charter Night along with the District Governor Lalit Kumar Kothari official visitation on February 14.
Lalit Kumar Kothari (District 322D) graced the occasion and extended warm greetings to the members, commending the club for completing fifty-five years of dedicated humanitarian service. In his address, the District Governor described the club as a “beacon of compassion, commitment, and community leadership,” noting that its sustained service projects and adherence to the Lions motto “We Serve” have positively impacted countless lives in the region.
Kothari, further praised the vision of the club’s charter members, the perseverance of past presidents, and the enthusiasm of the present leadership. He urged the club to expand its membership, strengthen fellowship, and deepen its community impact. A formal resolution was handed over to the District Governor during the programme.
The programme was hosted by Abhishek Kumar Atal and began with the calling of dignitaries to the dais, followed by the meeting being called to order by Presiding Officer and Club President Sanjay Jaiswal. After the invocation and flag salutation, Jaiswal delivered the welcome address. This was followed by felicitation of dignitaries and the presentation of the secretarial report by Sumit Jain.
A key highlight of the evening was the distribution of sewing machines to needy women, aimed at promoting self-reliance and livelihood opportunities. VDG-1 Dr. Neena Dutta also addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of sustained grassroots service.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by chairperson Rohit Jain, followed by the national anthem.
On the occasion, the club also successfully inaugurated and undertook several service projects, including: Inauguration of a drinking water station at Blooming Bud School, inauguration of a welcome board at the airport, inauguration of a renovated drinking water station at the Lions Club premises, donation of sewing machines to needy women and wheelchair to a needy patient.
