The Fine Arts Club of St Joseph University, in collaboration with the Department of English, organized an intimate and inspiring painting workshop titled “Brushstrokes and Brews” on February 16. The session was led by Wapang Jamir, a physiotherapist by profession and proprietor of Waang’s Studio.
According to a press release, the workshop brought together 16 participants from various departments of the university for a hands-on experience focused on creative expression and balancing professional life with artistic passion.
Addressing the participants, Jamir spoke about the influences that shaped his journey as an artist. Reflecting on his dual identity as a healthcarse professional and a gallery owner, he shared how dedication and time management enabled him to pursue his passion for art while maintaining a steady career. His story offered students a refreshing perspective on integrating creativity into everyday life.
The session was designed to be both technical and motivational. Jamir guided students through the fundamentals of color theory, demonstrating how to mix hues to evoke specific moods and emotions. Participants were encouraged to move beyond basic applications and experiment with more nuanced color palettes.
With a limited group of 16, the workshop ensured individual attention, allowing Jamir to provide personalized feedback and guidance tailored to each participant’s technique and style. The interactive format fostered a supportive environment for learning and artistic exploration.
The event concluded with a mini-exhibition showcasing the artworks created during the session. Certificates were distributed to all participants, marking the successful completion of the workshop.
