Bridge closure on Jharnapani-Molvom road from Feb 18: ADC

DIMAPUR, FEB 17 (NPN):

The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Medziphema has issued an order announcing the closure of the bridge on the Jharnapani-Molvom road stretch with effect from February 18, 2026, to facilitate the dismantling of the existing structure and construction of a new, higher-level bridge.
In the order, ADC Medziphema P. James Swu explained that the current bridge, located between Jharnapani and Molvom, remained submerged during the monsoon season, posing serious risks to public safety and disrupting vehicular movement.
Following a technical assessment by the concerned department, ADC said it has been deemed necessary to replace the existing bridge with a new one at the same location to ensure safe and uninterrupted connectivity throughout the year.
Consequently, all vehicular traffic on the affected stretch would remain suspended from February 18, 2026, onwards until the completion of the new bridge.
Commuters have been directed to use the alternate route via Tri Junction – Cattle Breeding Farm (towards SAS) – Dzumha river during the closure period.
ADC appealed to the public to strictly adhere to the diversion arrangements to prevent inconvenience and ensure their safety. The order would remain in force until the reconstruction work was fully completed and normal traffic restored.
