Shamator launches anti-child trafficking campaign

DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner of Shamator, Chubatemjen, along with EAC Mekato J. Aye, flagged off a poster and awareness campaign on “Combating Child Trafficking” at Shamator on February 16.
According to DIPR, the programme was launched by the district administration in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Shamator.
The campaign aims to sensitise the public on prevention of child trafficking and protection of children’s rights through posters prepared in local dialects, Hindi and English for wider outreach. The posters will be displayed at the offices of the Deputy Commissioner, Police Station, Community Health Centre, Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA), Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), and distributed to all government schools in the district. They will also be placed in all wards under Shamator, taxi counters and other public spaces in and around the town.
The district administration stressed that sustained grassroots awareness and community participation are essential to combat child trafficking and safeguard children. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
