KPL Season 2 kicks off at Sovima Cricket Stadium

The Kohima Premier League (KPL) Season 2, organised under the aegis of the Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA), commenced on Wednesday at Sovima Cricket Stadium, Chümoukedima.
In the opening match, Ura Mavericks set a competitive target of 158/5 against Oking Outlaws. Imkumlong led the batting charge with 35 runs off 25 deliveries, while captain Moasosang and Zidu contributed 31 runs each to power the Mavericks’ innings.
For Oking Outlaws, Kevilelie and Thupuluzo claimed two wickets apiece to restrict the Mavericks.
In response, Oking Outlaws successfully chased down the target in 19 overs, securing an eight-wicket victory. Seyievizo delivered a match-winning performance with an unbeaten 98 off 58 balls, while Epha supported him with an unbeaten 45 off 38 balls. For the Mavericks, Ruduovotso and Mhajan picked up a wicket each.
Seyievizo was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ and received the award from Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Honorary Secretary of the Nagaland Cricket Association.
In the second match of the day, Central Hurricanes, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and were bowled out for 135 runs in 18.4 overs. Kenendi top-scored with an unbeaten 35 off 26 balls, while Viketho added 28 runs off 17 deliveries.
Keviselhou Sekhose of Capital Sixers delivered an impressive bowling spell, registering figures of 5/19 in his allotted four overs.
Chasing 136 for victory, Capital Sixers put up a spirited effort with Peter scoring an unbeaten 52 and Imomenba contributing 37 runs.
However, the disciplined bowling attack of Central Hurricanes, led by Vizoletuo (2/36) and ably supported by Teiso, Henry, Vitoshe and Kelhousilie, restricted the Sixers to hand the Hurricanes an eight-run win.
Despite ending on the losing side, Keviselhou was named ‘Man of the Match’ for his outstanding five-wicket haul and received the award from Hyunilo Anilo Khing, Honorary Secretary of the Nagaland Cricket Association.
Meanwhile, the fixtures for February 19 will see Oking Outlaws take on Capital Sixers in the first match at 9:00 am, followed by Central Hurricanes facing Ura Mavericks at 12:30 pm.
