The Department of Mass Communication, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), organised its 5th Photography Exhibition on Thursday at the National Service Scheme (NSS) Park, New Campus, under the theme “Language of Colours in Silent Geometry.”
The exhibition formed part of the academic curriculum for second-semester BA Mass Communication students, providing them a creative platform to showcase their photographic works.
A total of 24 photographs were sold during the exhibition, with 13 frames purchased within the first hour of its opening. The event witnessed an encouraging response, drawing over 300 registered attendees, including faculty members, students, and well-wishers.
Proceeds from the exhibition will be utilised to support the sixth edition of the three-day Campus Film Festival, scheduled for next year and to be organised by the same batch of the Mass Communication department.
Controller of Examinations Akangsenla, who inaugurated the exhibition, described it as a meaningful platform for students to express their individuality and creativity.
She remarked that photography goes beyond academic requirements and serves as a genuine form of artistic and creative expression, enabling students to share their unique perspectives beyond classroom learning.
Explaining the concept behind the theme, event manager Therali Kithan, a second-semester Mass Communication student, stated that the exhibition aimed to foster appreciation of the world around us, noting that colours and structures often convey unspoken truths and meanings.
The programme also featured an interactive session where visitors engaged directly with the student photographers, gaining deeper insights into the inspiration and stories behind each frame.
