Nagaland: 3rd Boys U16 inter district tournament updates

The third edition of the Boys U16 Inter District Tournament produced a day of contrasting cricketing action across Chumoukedima, Sovima and Dimapur, with Chumoukedima staging a spirited comeback, while Dimapur and Niuland registered emphatic innings victories.
Chumoukedima vs Kohima
At Chumoukedima village ground, Chumoukedima overcame a shaky start to defeat Kohima by 86 runs. After being bowled out for just 59 in the first innings, thanks to Kohima’s Imkongtemsu and T Tenshing Phom who shared eight wickets, Chumoukedima bounced back strongly in their second innings with 164 runs, led by Ronak (31) and Nipuka (22). Kohima faltered in both innings, dismissed for 58 and 79, as Rohit’s devastating spell of 7/21, supported by Bendang Wapang and Vizotuo, sealed the win. Bendang Wapang was named Player of the Match.
Dimapur vs Peren
At GNR ground Sovima, Dimapur delivered a commanding performance, thrashing Peren by an innings and 490 runs. Batting first, Dimapur piled up 555/8 declared, powered by centuries from Kunal Kumar (150), Yash Poudel (141), and Chintu (111). Peren crumbled under pressure, bowled out for 47 in the first innings and just 18 in the follow-on. Partha’s remarkable 5/4 in the second innings capped the one-sided contest. Kunal Kumar was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant century.
Wokha vs Niuland
At Sovima Cricket Ground, Niuland showcased their bowling strength, defeating Wokha by an innings and 218 runs. Wokha, batting first, collapsed to 38 all out, with Kitovi Sema (5/4) and Akash Gupta (5/13) sharing all ten wickets. Niuland responded with 288, led by Ayush (77) and solid middle-order contributions. Wokha’s batting woes continued in the second innings, managing only 32/9, as Akash Gupta (5/6) and Kitovi Sema (4/0) dismantled them again. Akash Gupta was named Player of the Match.
The day’s matches highlighted the growing competitiveness of the U16 circuit. Dimapur and Niuland stamped their authority with dominant innings victories, while Chumoukedima impressed with a spirited comeback against Kohima. Standout individual performances with both bat and ball played decisive roles, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
