Mokokchung Athletics, in collaboration with MY Bharat, has announced the organization of the ASMITA FIT INDIA sporting event on March 7, at the Imkonmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. The initiative is part of the nationwide observance of International Women’s Day 2026.
The event, conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports through the Sports Authority of India and MY Bharat, is aligned with the Government of India’s flagship ‘Sports for Women’ initiative, ASMITA (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring Women Through Action).
Since its launch in 2021, ASMITA has successfully conducted over 2,500 leagues across India, engaging more than 2.9 lakh women athletes in 34 sports disciplines, covering all States, Union Territories and over 600 districts.
The Mokokchung edition aims to – celebrate International Women’s Day through sports and physical activity; promote the ASMITA initiative at the grassroots level; encourage mass participation of women and girls in athletics; create awareness on fitness, health, and sporting culture among women and youth.
There will be competitions for Track Events – 100m, 200m, 400m; Field Events – Shot Put, Long Jump for age groups from Under 13 years, 13–18 years, above 18 years.
Age verification will be carried out at registration through Aadhaar or other valid government-issued documents. Each event will allow a maximum of 128 participants per age category, with track events conducted through heats, semi-finals and finals.
Digital certificates for all participants and winners via the ASMITA Portal; medals for the top three finishers in each event and age category; winners’ details and official photographs will be uploaded on the ASMITA Portal.
