Craft fair & exhibition generates Rs. 9.43 lakh sales

The three-day Craft Fair and Exhibition, organized by the Mind Blowers Club (MBC), concluded on Saturday at the Integrated Business Hub and Innovation Centre, Forest Colony, Dimapur. The event was sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC) and partly supported by the Nagaland State Co-operative Bank Ltd.
According to organizers, the exhibition recorded total sales of Rs. 9,43,200. Handmade traditional and self-designed jewellery, along with handwoven textiles including yarn products, woolens, and mekhlas, emerged as the top-selling categories.
The objective of the fair was to provide artisans and craftsmen a common platform to showcase their creations, explore sustainable market avenues, and foster a community that values traditional knowledge and skills.
The three-day programme also featured seminars and workshops. On the concluding day, participants attended a workshop on “Traditional Handmade Jewellery” conducted by Zuben Murry Design, designer and founder, Zaben Murry. The session explored both traditional and fusion jewellery designs, highlighting the rich heritage and craftsmanship embedded in artisanal traditions.
Participants engaged in hands-on techniques, creating unique jewellery pieces during the workshop.
On the second day, a B2B Seminar and a workshop on “Eco-friendly Packaging” were held. The seminar featured National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Dimapur Sub-branch Deputy Manager, Vinod Kumar Jaiswal, as the resource person.
He elaborated on the benefits of Udyam Registration for artisans and craft-based businesses, highlighting schemes and marketing support available through MSME. He encouraged artisans to approach the MSME office for assistance and share their challenges openly.
During the interactive session, artisans expressed concerns over difficulties in procuring raw materials and stressed the need for tailored solutions. The discussion underscored the importance of collaboration between MSME and local artisan communities.
Following the seminar, Meribeni P. Kikon conducted a practical workshop on eco-friendly packaging. She offered a step-by-step demonstration on crafting paper-based packaging bags. Participants actively engaged in the session, gaining skills in sustainable packaging solutions.
The Craft Fair and Exhibition not only generated significant sales but also provided artisans with valuable exposure, training, and networking opportunities, reinforcing the importance of preserving traditional crafts while adapting to modern market demands.
