GMS Rukizu upgraded to GHS

Dimapur:

Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Saturday inaugurated the newly upgraded Government High School (GHS) Rukizu, Pfutsero.
Speaking at the event, Khamo said the institution should serve as a place to impart education and enlighten minds so that students may one day become leaders and professionals contributing to society and building a better world. He acknowledged chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, chairman of the State Level Education Committee (SLEC), and advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, along with officials concerned, for upgrading the school from Government Middle School to Government High School, fulfilling a long-felt need of the people.
Khamo noted that Pfutsero has emerged as a centre for the Chakhesang community, developing into an educational and commercial hub of the district despite the administrative headquarters being located at Phek town. He appreciated the community’s participation and collective efforts towards realising the aspirations for the school.
Highlighting the challenges faced by students due to dependence on the lone government-aided high school in Pfutsero, he said the upgradation of GHS Rukizu would ease admission difficulties and cater to the educational needs of the locality and the district at large. He also placed on record his appreciation for the landowners who donated the school site, describing their sacrifice as visionary for posterity.
Khamo urged students to view education beyond securing government jobs, encouraging them to pursue diverse professions, become employers rather than employees, and contribute to society’s betterment. He stressed that in today’s competitive world there is no space for laziness, whether in government service or business, and pointed out that banks and financial institutions are ready to support honest and promising entrepreneurs.
He called upon the Chakhesang people and residents of Pfutsero to embrace changing dynamics and prepare younger generations to cope successfully. Hailing the leadership of Chief Minister Rio for inclusive development, he urged citizens to support the government in accelerating progress.
The programme also witnessed speeches from Razouseyi Vese, director of School Education, and P. Lohe Chachei, Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Pfutsero. The welcome address was delivered by Velakho Sakhamo, Teacher-in-Charge, GHS Rukizu Pfutsero.
