Batting first, West Indies posted a competitive 195 for 4 in 20 overs, powered by solid contributions from Roston Chase (40), Shai Hope (32), Jason Holder (37 not out), and Rovman Powell (34 not out). India’s bowling attack was led by Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed two wickets for 36 runs, while Holder (2/38) and Shamar Joseph (2/42) picked up two wickets each for the Caribbean side.
In reply, India’s chase was anchored by Sanju Samson, who played a scintillating unbeaten knock of 97 runs off just 50 balls, laced with 12 fours and four sixes. His innings was a masterclass in controlled aggression and timing, ensuring India crossed the target with four balls to spare.
Samson received valuable support from Tilak Varma (27), Suryakumar Yadav (18), and Hardik Pandya (17), who chipped in with crucial runs to keep the chase steady and avoid late drama.
India eventually finished at 199 for 5 in 19.2 overs, securing a memorable win and confirming their spot in the semifinals. Samson’s heroic innings stood out as one of the finest chasing performances of the tournament, while Bumrah’s early breakthroughs kept West Indies from posting an even bigger total.
With this victory, India not only kept their campaign alive but also sent a strong message ahead of the knockout stage, showcasing both batting depth and bowling resilience.

SA march into semi-finals as lone unbeaten team
South Africa carried their unbeaten record into the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup semi-finals after overcoming an inspired all-round performance from Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza to win by five wickets in their Super Eights clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing 154, the Proteas were left in a spot of bother by Raza who claimed 3/29. South Africa eventually finished at 154/5 in 17.5 overs with Tristan Stubbs (21 not out) and George Linde (30 not out) at the crease.
Ryan Rickelton (31) struck four sixes while Dewald Brevis made an 18-ball 42 with four sixes and two fours.
Earlier, skipper Sikandar Raza’s brisk 43-ball 73 was instrumental in lifting Zimbabwe to 153/7.
Raza hammered eight fours and four sixes to play the lone hand. Towards the end, Clive Madande struck a few crucial blows to make 26 off 20 balls (3 fours).
