Kohima Science College Jakhama (KSCJ) Science Club, in collaboration with the Physics Club, organized its annual Science Day celebration under the theme “From curiosity to innovation; science empowering young minds.”
The programme featured two sessions: an official programme and the Inter-Departmental Model Exhibition & Competition, alongside the inaugural Inter-School Model Exhibition & Competition.
Delivering the keynote address, Chief Conservator of Forests (Environment, Biodiversity & Research), Supongnukshi, emphasized the importance of inventions and innovations born of consistent effort and curiosity.
Drawing from his experiences in Japan, he highlighted the Japanese culture of precision and urged Nagas to adopt similar intricacy and consistency, noting that “consistency with inquisitiveness harnessed in a field with implemented policies is what leads to desired results.”
Science Club advisor, Dr. Subenthung Tsopoe, in his welcome address, underscored how curiosity has historically led to scientific breakthroughs, citing Dr. C.V. Raman as an example. He noted that the competitions were designed to ignite innovation through curiosity and discovery. In the second session, the Inter-Departmental Exhibition & Competition alongside the Inter-School Exhibition and Competition encompassed a wide variety of models ranging from chemically engineered models to modern day AI-assisted technology.
The models displayed by the departments consisted of ideas inculcated based on their own specializations, truly highlighting their finesse in their own specified fields.
