Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland (ZB-N) held its general conference-cum-election for the tenure 2026–2029 at New Beisumpui Village on February 25 under the theme “Embracing our Zeliangrong Differences.” Dr. Johnny Kadunsin Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer, NSDMA, Government of Nagaland, was the resource person.
The programme began with invocation by Raigaing Pame, elder PCI New Beisumpui, and welcome address by Irangtalakpe, deputy speaker ZB(N). Advisor (ZB-N) K. Akhang led the tribute to departed officials of the 2022–2026 tenure, while Wingam Nring delivered the presidential address. Cultural dances by Beisampui Deilung Youth Organization and Women Society, along with a performance by renowned artist Nangkamlak Pame, highlighted the cultural pride of the community.
Speeches were delivered by representatives of Nagaland Zeliang People Organisation (NZPO), Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation Nagaland (ZMON), Zeme Council Nagaland (ZCN), and Rongmei Council Nagaland (RCN), all stressing unity, common language, population strength, and preservation of land and resources.
Resource person Dr. Ruangmei elaborated on the theme, urging the people to embrace differences for progressive development. He reminded that Zeliangrong identity was God-given, with 12,000 sq km of land, making them the second largest tribe next to the Boro in Northeast India, and emphasized unity in wisdom and institution-building.
General secretary Andrew Disong presented the report of the 2022–2026 tenure, while vice president Amonbo Zeliang proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the Zeliangrong gathering song “Penui sa lei, tinghu giamme ki bambe lam” and prayer by elder Tateutuing Nriame.
The General Election was then conducted, electing the following office bearers for the tenure 2026–2029: president: K. Francis Zeliang; vice president: Adaube Hiekha Hau; general secretary: Azubo N. Dominic along with five executive members.
The conference concluded with blessings for the new office bearers and prayer by Lungchubuing, associate pastor, New Beisumpui Baptist Church.
