Body formed to revive Nagaland Press Association

A meeting aimed at reviving the Nagaland Press Association (NPA) was held on February 27, 2026, attended by representatives from leading media houses, including Nagaland Post, TirYimyim, Eastern Mirror and The Morung Express.
According to a statement issued by NPA, the primary focus of the deliberations was the urgent need to reactivate the NPA in view of the evolving media landscape in the State. Participants discussed at length the current challenges confronting the press and emphasised the need for greater clarity on government policies affecting the functioning and welfare of journalists and media establishments in Nagaland.
Following detailed deliberations, the house resolved to constitute an interim body to steer the revival process of the association, which was formed on November 10, 2011.
The meeting unanimously proposed Aochuba Yaden as convenor, Raymond Ronamai as co-convenor and Akangjungla as secretary.
The interim body has been entrusted with compiling a comprehensive list of working and non-working journalists affiliated with media houses across the State and has sought cooperation from all concerned in this regard.
It has also been mandated to convene a general meeting of all stakeholders by the end of March 2026 to formalise the future course of action for the association.
