‘One Health’ workshop concludes at CVSc & AH Jalukie

The seven-day National Workshop on “Strengthening One Health Capacities in North-East India: AMR, Food Safety and Wildlife Interfaces with Molecular Approaches” concluded on March 2 at the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (CVSc & AH), Jalukie, a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, Imphal. The workshop, held from February 24 to March 2, was funded by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Indian Council of Medical Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It brought together experts from veterinary sciences, human health, wildlife, microbiology, epidemiology and public health sectors across the North-East region.
The closing session was addressed by Dr. I. Shakuntala, dean of CVSc & AH, Jalukie, followed by Dr. Nyanthung Kikon, state nodal officer, One Health Programme, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima. Vote of thanks was delivered by organising secretary Dr. Raghubir Singh, assistant professor, Department of Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology, CVSc & AH, Jalukie. Experts at the workshop called for the establishment of a regional surveillance network and stronger action against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
