Eighteen postgraduate students from the Department of Political Science, Kohima College (KC), accompanied by three faculty members, attended the 8th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly as part of an experiential learning initiative on March 2.
In a press release, Mass Media Cell, Kohima College, informed that students observed the Governor’s address to the House and obituary references to former members of the Legislative Assembly, gaining firsthand exposure to legislative proceedings. Faculty members said the visit was organised to inculcate practical understanding of parliamentary procedures, legislative functioning and democratic governance. They added that such experiential exposure helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world political institutions while fostering civic awareness and appreciation of democratic values.
Following the session, the students also had the opportunity to briefly interact with the chief minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, and took a group photograph, making the visit both educational and memorable.
