1 sentenced to 7 years RI for culpable homicide

DIMAPUR:

The Court of Mezivolu T. Therieh, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kohima, on March 2, 2026 has convicted Logvuseng Kent (52) under Section 304 Part I of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide, sentencing him to seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5,000. In default of payment, he will undergo one year of simple imprisonment.
The conviction pertains to the homicide of Terilo Odyuo alias Lucy Kent (50), which occurred in 2023 at Tseminyu. The case was investigated by UBSI Chonkholen Doungel of Tseminyu Police Station.
During the trial, 12 prosecution witnesses were examined. Special Public Prosecutor L. Sashimongla Jamir successfully established the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt through oral, medical, and documentary evidence.
Additional Public Prosecutor Abraham lauded the coordinated efforts of the police, prosecution, and witnesses, and expressed appreciation to the investigating agency for its effective work
