Assam Rifles organised two community outreach programmes in Nagaland on March 3, reaffirming its commitment to healthcare and environmental awareness.
At Tuensang, a free dental camp was held for children of Bethel Children Home. Conducted by a qualified Dental Officer (CMO), the camp provided consultation, dental check-ups, treatment and distribution of essential medicines. A total of 17 children and two teachers availed the services. The programme also included interaction with the children, distribution of gifts and refreshments. The officer educated participants on oral hygiene and preventive healthcare practices, aiming to improve overall well-being. Officials noted that the initiative was part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing efforts towards community welfare in remote border areas.
Meanwhile, at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhandari, Wokha district, Assam Rifles observed World Wildlife Day. The event saw participation from 30 students, seven teachers and personnel of the force. Activities included an awareness lecture on wildlife conservation and a plantation drive to promote afforestation. Resource persons highlighted the importance of biodiversity preservation, warning against deforestation, illegal hunting, plastic waste and river pollution. Students were encouraged to value nature as discipline, responsibility and service to the nation.
