MoS urges AR recruits to strive for excellence

A total of 350 fresh recruits of the Assam Rifles marched with precision, discipline, and perfect synchronisation during their Attestation Parade held at the Jasram Parade Ground of the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Shokhuvi on Saturday.
The impressive ceremony marked the successful completion of 44 weeks of intensive and rigorous training, equipping the young soldiers with essential skills in battle craft, weapon handling, firing, and specialised counter-insurgency operations.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who reviewed the parade, congratulated the recruits for successfully completing their demanding training.
In his address, the union minister said the attestation parade marked a new chapter in the proud history of the Assam Rifles, with a large number of young recruits taking the oath to serve the nation.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar highlighted that the induction of the new batch reflected the strengthening of the country’s security apparatus and the commitment of the younger generation to serve the nation.
MoS reminded the recruits that from this day forward, they have fully assumed the responsibilities of professional soldiers and embarked on a new phase of life.
He noted that most battalions of the Assam Rifles remained actively engaged in counter-insurgency operations and in maintaining peace in disturbed areas.
MoS recalled that the Assam Rifles have earned distinction through its contributions in operations in Kashmir and participation in UN peacekeeping missions.
The minister emphasised that the recruits would become the non-commissioned officers and junior commissioned officers of tomorrow, and some among them could even rise to become officers in the future.
Therefore, he urged them to uphold the honour of the force and ensure that their conduct and discipline always reflected the dignity of the uniform.
Highlighting the role of training institutions, Kumar commended the ARTC&S for maintaining high standards of training and producing disciplined, physically fit and mentally strong soldiers capable of performing their duties effectively. He also lauded the instructors and staff of the training centre for their dedication in shaping the recruits into professional soldiers.
Further, the minister acknowledged the expectations of the families of the recruits and urged the young soldiers to strive for excellence while fulfilling their responsibilities towards both the nation and their families.
During the ceremony, outstanding recruits were honoured for their performance during training. Rifleman (GD) Lalliankhaul was awarded “Best in Firing and Overall Best Recruit”, while Rifleman (GD) Wangkai received the award for “Best in Drill”, and Rifleman (GD) Vekhota Lohe was adjudged “Best in Physical training”.
