PCC 50th annual sports week concludes

DIMAPUR, MAR 8 (NPN):

The 5th annual sports week of Patkai Christian College held under the theme “Confluence: Art and Athletic,” concluded on Saturday.
Students representing the five houses—Tigris, Jordan, Pishon, Gihon, and Euphrates—competed across a wide range of outdoor and indoor events. Outdoor fixtures included football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, kabaddi, tug of war, arm wrestling, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, shot put, weightlifting, and physique contests. Track highlights featured the 1200m, 800m, 400m, and 100m races along with relays. Indoor competitions such as badminton, carrom, chess, and table tennis also drew strong participation.
Newly introduced events like weightlifting and push-up contests added fresh excitement, with dean of students Wetshete Thopi noting that these innovations brought renewed energy to the programme.
He estimated the success rate of the week-long event at 80–90 percent, expressing optimism for further improvements in future editions.
Vice president Viliezo Dino extended appreciation to organisers, sponsors, and participants, commending the lively atmosphere created by the students’ spirited involvement.
At the close of the competitions, Team Tigris emerged overall champions, followed by Pishon in second place and Euphrates in third.
