Nagaland govt notifies selection of new VC members

State government has notified all recognised villages in the State for selection of new village council members for the next tenure.
In a notification, the home department stated that the deputy commissioner of the respective districts would issue necessary notification containing directives to all recognised villages under their respective jurisdiction for the tenure 2026–2031.
It stated that the selection of new village council members would be carried out in accordance with the prevailing customary practices and usages within 15 (fifteen) days from the date of issue of the notification.
Further, the notification stated that the entire process of selection of the new village council members should be completed before April 30, 2026.
It informed that the proposed list of members of the newly constituted village councils should be submitted to the state government through the office of the commissioner, Nagaland for necessary approval latest by May 5, 2026.
