All Sümi Students’ Union (SKK) has appreciated Nagaland police and the state government for successfully conducting the recent police recruitment, but raised concerns over transparency in the declaration of results.
Citing official records, SKK said the recruitment notification was issued on October 7, 2025, physical efficiency test (PET) was conducted from January 7-13, 2026, followed by the written examination on January 20, 2026 and final results were declared on February 25, 2026.
In a press release, SKK president Hipito Achumi and general secretary P. Samuel Chophy pointed out it took nearly one month for the evaluation of answer scripts after the written examination.
The student body has urged the Police Headquarters, Nagaland, to reconsider its directive and ensure that the individual marks of all candidates should be officially published by the district centres so the aggrieved candidates could have the clear understanding of the results after the revaluation by the PHQ.
SKK acknowledged the effort involved in conducting such a large-scale recruitment process. The union, however, maintained that aspirants had the right to know their marks.
It reminded that transparency and accountability were fundamental principles of any fair recruitment system. SKK said that restricting the disclosure of marks created confusion and raised unnecessary doubts among candidates who have participated in good faith.
In this regard, SKK has advocated for the adoption of the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) system for all future written examinations conducted by the department. SKK pointed out that implementing OMR would enable faster evaluation of answer scripts; minimise human error; greatly enhance overall transparency and strengthen public confidence and credibility in the recruitment process.
