Staff ReporterDIMAPUR, MAR 12 (NPN):

Three separate fire incidents were reported on Wednesday and Thursday in Dimapur and Niuland districts.
In Dimapur, a house fire broke out at Netaji Colony near Loknaph Mandir around 10 am, affecting two families. Fire officials said the exact cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained, but it was suspected that the blaze may have spread from a burning diya (oil lamp) inside the house.
Officials informed that the fire affected two non-Naga families and no injuries were reported. One fire tender each from Central and West Fire Stations was pressed into service to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further.
In another incident, a fire broke out at a roadside hotel at Khehokhu village under Niuland district.
According to fire officials from Chümoukedima Fire Station, the fire reportedly started in the kitchen while food was being prepared.
Three fire tenders– one from Chümoukedima Fire Station and two from Central Fire Station were deployed to douse the flames. Officials said three rooms of the hotel were completely gutted in the incident.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze before it could spread to nearby areas consisting mostly of bamboo groves and teak plantations. The property damage was estimated at around Rs 10 lakh. No casualties were reported, officials added.
Meanwhile, Indian Army personnel averted a major fire at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Sewak in Dimapur on March 11.
According to a defence release, a rapidly spreading bushfire broke out within the school premises around 5:45 pm, fuelled by dry foliage, seasonal undergrowth and evening winds, posing an immediate threat to the school infrastructure and nearby wooded areas.
A firefighting team from the 113 Infantry Battalion (TA) Rajput rushed to the spot with all required equipment and launched coordinated operations to contain the blaze.
Despite dense smoke and poor visibility, the troops continued operations until the blaze was brought under control, preventing damage to school facilities and stopping the fire from spreading to nearby residential and wooded areas, the release stated.
