Nagaland per capita income projected at Rs 1.92 lakh

DIMAPUR, MAR 12 (NPN):

The size of Nagaland’s economy has grown significantly over the past decade, reaching about Rs 45,134 crore in 2024–25, according to the ‘Nagaland Economic Survey 2025-26’ released by the Department of Economics and Statistics.
The survey stated that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of the state increased from around Rs 19,524 crore in 2015–16 to Rs 45,134 crore in 2024–25 (provisional estimate), indicating steady economic expansion.
In terms of income, the per capita income of the state is projected to rise to around Rs 1,92,280 in 2025–26 (advance estimate), up from Rs 1,75,374 in the previous year. The report also estimated the state economy to be around USD 5 billion in size.
The survey highlighted that agriculture and allied activities continue to play a crucial role in the state’s economy, contributing about 23.37% to the state’s GDP while providing livelihood to a large section of the population.
On employment, the survey noted that the estimated employment rate in the state stands at 83.92%, while the unemployment rate is around 16.07%.
The report further stated that various sectors of the economy, including services and infrastructure development, are expected to contribute to future economic growth.
The Nagaland Economic Survey 2025–26 provides a comprehensive overview of the state’s macroeconomic scenario and sectoral performance and is intended to guide policy decisions and socio-economic planning in the state.
