Adult literacy students felicitated at Yanthamo Village

CorrespondentWokha, Mar 14 (NPN):

A felicitation programme for students of the Adult Literacy Class was held on Saturday at the Community Hall, Yanthamo village under Chukitong RD Block. The event was organised under the NSRLM PRI–CBO Convergence Project in collaboration with the District Administration, Department of Social Welfare, and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) (BBBP) under Mission Shakti.
The literacy initiative was conducted by Zukhumki Federation (CLF) under NSRLM, BMMU Chukitong RD Block, following a demand raised by the Village Level Organization (VLO) to promote literacy among adult members of the community. The three-month course aimed at equipping learners with basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills.
Altogether, 23 students successfully completed the course and were awarded certificates of completion during the programme. Participants learned alphabets, basic numeracy, and how to write their own signatures, enabling them to carry out daily tasks with greater confidence and independence.
One of the most inspiring highlights was the participation of 82-year-old Lopyoni Ngullie, the oldest student among the learners. Her determination and enthusiasm to learn stood out as a powerful reminder that education has no age barrier.
The programme underscored the importance of community-driven initiatives in promoting education, empowerment, and inclusive development at the grassroots level. Organisers expressed hope that such efforts would continue to strengthen adult education and encourage more members of the community to embrace lifelong learning.
