D. Block Council-cum-multipurpose building dedicated in Kohima

DIMAPUR:

The D. Block Council-cum-multipurpose building was formally dedicated by former minister Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire in the presence of Kohima Municipal Council councillor, Thenusou Sekhose, and chairman of D. Block Council, Kevi Vizo on March 14.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kire called upon the community to make the best use of the facility for the welfare of the residents. He expressed optimism that the building would become a place of blessings and have a positive impact on community welfare and overall development.
Councillor Thenusou Sekhose described the dedication as an important milestone for D. Block ward. “This building is not just a physical structure, it represents our collective commitment to strengthen community participation and improve local governance,” she said. Sekhose added that the facility would provide space for public discourse, youth activities, social gatherings, and programmes promoting community welfare.
She thanked Kohima Smart City Development Limited for supporting and constructing the building, noting that the Smart City initiative aims to improve urban infrastructure and uplift the living standards of the community. She also acknowledged Dr. Kire’s leadership during his tenure as Advisor for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, under which the project was initiated.
Sekhose further expressed gratitude to Kohima Municipal Council, council leaders, community leaders, youth, and residents of D. Block for their collective efforts in bringing the project to completion. She urged all residents to take responsibility in actively using the facility to promote unity, cooperation, and development.
Chairman Kevi Vizo said the completion of the building fulfilled a long-felt desire of the community. Thanking the government and all concerned for the successful completion, he noted that the facility would now serve as a venue for social gatherings, youth and church activities, birthday programmes, and other community events.
Short speeches were also delivered by Head GB, Ruokuovilhou Belho, and former chairman, Keduovilie Linyii. The programme was chaired by Neisavotuo Whuorie, vice-president of D. Block Council, while the vote of thanks was proposed by James Yhome, Media and Information Secretary.
