Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, appreciated the efforts of Self Help Group (SHG) members and encouraged women to become self-reliant through skill development and livelihood initiatives. She was speaking after inaugurating the Cedar Community Management Workshop Centre under NSRLM at Cedar Office, Padumpukhuri on March 13, 2026.
In her address, Hekani highlighted the Lakhpati Didi initiative and urged SHG members to strive towards becoming “Lakhpati Didis.” She also shared details about the PMFME scheme and expressed hope that the newly inaugurated workshop centre would serve as a platform for learning, innovation, and capacity building. She assured continued support in addressing challenges faced by the Cedar community.
The programme was chaired by P. Cheliam Khiam, vice chairman, CWLCCS Ltd and began with a dedication prayer by Marykali Chishi, Women Pastor of Sumi Baptist Church, Padumpukhuri, followed by the formal inauguration of the workshop centre by the chief guest. The Cedar Anthem was led by Cantor Kushiabil VLO.
Delivering the welcome address, Aholi T. Chophy, chairman, CWLCCS Ltd, highlighted the objectives behind establishing the workshop centre. Treasurer, Temjennaro Jamir, shared a brief history of Cedar CLF since its inception. A special song was presented by Hekashi and team.
Speaking on the occasion, M. Yimok Phom, ADPM, DMMU NSRLM, highlighted the functioning and significance of SHGs. He encouraged women to continue enhancing their skills and knowledge while working towards long-term sustainability, including the vision of establishing a permanent office for the Cedar community in the future.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Holika, EC Member, and benediction by S. Hokali Yeptho.
