Rengma Selo Zi inspects govt departments

DIMAPUR:

Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) carried out a series of surprise visits to various government departments under Tseminyu district from February 24 to March 6, 2026 with the objective of assessing office functioning and staff attendance.
In a press release, RSZ president Kegwayhum Tep and general secretary Hiyalo Jemu stated that the union was shocked and disappointed to find many officers and staff absent from their designated postings. In several instances, departmental offices were found completely closed, leaving no personnel available to attend to public needs.
RSZ termed such irresponsible attitude towards duty as highly condemnable, pointing to serious lapses in administrative accountability. It cautioned all officers and employees posted under Tseminyu district to remain sincere, responsible and regular in discharging their duties.
The union reminded that postings in the district should not be misconstrued as opportunities for prolonged absence or personal engagements elsewhere, stressing that public offices exist to serve the people and negligence directly undermines citizen welfare and trust.
Further, RSZ strongly reiterated that “postings in the district are not a holiday period or a vacation for personal work,” but a responsibility to serve with dedication and commitment. It appealed to all departments functioning under the district to maintain discipline, ensure regular attendance and extend the best possible services to the public.
RSZ informed that a detailed report of the surprise visits will be submitted to the district administration of Tseminyu for necessary review and appropriate action. The Union reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public interest and ensuring effective functioning of government institutions for the welfare of the people.
