Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU), has strongly condemned what it termed the “unconstitutional, self styled and illegal” conduct of the LSU Election Commission for the 2026 2029 term.
In a condemnation note signed by LMRSU president Rhonbemo Murry and assistant general secretary Renvungo Jami, the Union alleged that the Commission had disqualified six candidates without adhering to the LSU constitution, arbitrarily switched the electorate, and carried out questionable election proceedings.
LMRSU stated that 54 out of 90 units boycotted the election, leaving only 43 units to participate, which it said rendered the electoral college illegitimate and illegal. The Union declared that it disowned the unconstitutional conduct of the election and refused to recognize the biased decisions of the Commission. It further advised members not to cooperate with or acknowledge the Commission’s decisions, and not to recognize the election results until the Commission is dissolved and its decisions declared null and void.
The Union also disputed the Commission’s claim that 19 units had pulled out, asserting that 16 signatories were unauthorized by their respective presidents. LMRSU described the incident as unprecedented in the history of LSU and reiterated its stand against what it termed as unconstitutional practices.
