Konyak Union Dimapur (KUD), Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong Dimapur (KNSKD), and Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordinating Committee (NFHRCC) and its relentless efforts to realize the Foothills Road Project, stretching from Khelma in Peren district to Tizit in Mon district.
In a joint press release, KUD president M. Jeange Yanlem and general secretary C. Wangwan Jorlym stated that this vital road connectivity linking Mon district with the other districts in Nagaland has long been a cherished aspiration of the Konyak people.
The signatories highlighted the severe hardships faced by residents of Mon district while travelling through neighbouring states.
They said that completion of Foothills Road project without interruption was their desire.
Dimapur-based Konyak bodies also expressed strong solidarity with the memorandum submitted on February 21, 2026, by the combined 13 Dimapur-based tribal hohos to the state government.
The memorandum had urged the issuance of the second-phase work order before the stipulated deadline.
Acknowledging the significance of other infrastructure initiatives, the Konyak bodies appealed to the government to accord top priority to finishing the ongoing two-lane Foothills Road project, currently funded under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI), before pursuing proposals for a transnational highway.
Further, the three organisations urged the government not to overlook sustained efforts of NFHRCC over the past 14 years for the project.
They called upon the authorities to resolve any misunderstandings or differences with NFHRCC at the earliest, ensuring the long-awaited project proceeds smoothly and was completed on time without further disruptions.
