NSCN (I-M) Eastern Flank, Naga Army, has issued a statement expressing concern over the prevailing situation in Litan area and alleged attacks on Tangkhul Naga villages.
In a statement, ‘Lt. Gen.’ A. Raman said it desired peaceful coexistence with other communities, but maintained that there could be no compromise if attempts were made to carve out parts of “Nagalim” for a separate Kuki homeland.
The group alleged that an incident of assault on a Tangkhul driver took place along the Imphal-Ukhrul highway in June 2025 and further claimed that on February 8, 2026, houses belonging to Tangkhul Nagas were burnt in Litan. It alleged involvement of Kuki militants and accused Indian security forces of supporting such actions.
Raman further claimed that such incidents had emboldened alleged aggressors and reiterated its opposition to any move affecting Naga political rights. The statement also accused the Government of India of adopting policies detrimental to Naga interests.
Raman said it would stand firm in defence of what it termed as Naga ancestral land and indicated that necessary steps would be taken in this regard. It also appealed to Naga youth to remain prepared to safeguard their land.
He expressed support to earlier positions taken by NSCN (I-M) and the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) regarding the situation in Litan. Further, it endorsed calls for cutting civic and economic ties, including restrictions on timber trade, fuel supply and other goods along areas near the Indo-Myanmar border, stating that such measures would be enforced with immediate effect.
