The Anāl Lenruwl Tàngpi (ALT), Chakpikarong Branch, has strongly condemned the attempted murder of Sumpi Ngamrung, chief of Ravalon Village, and the abduction of his wife by suspected armed militants on March 19, 2026.
According to ALT, around 7 p.m, five armed men with “sophisticated weapons” forcibly entered the residence of the village chief, opened fire on him, and abducted his wife. The union described the act as barbaric and highlighted the fragile and painful conflict situation prevailing in Manipur.
ALT has demanded immediate rescue of the abducted woman, swift arrest of the perpetrators, and a thorough, transparent investigation into the incident. It further cautioned that the perpetrators will bear full responsibility for any escalation arising from the crime. The Chakpikarong Branch of ALT reiterated its call for decisive action by the authorities to ensure justice and restore peace in the region.
