The Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie, Nagaland, organized a one-day awareness-cum-input distribution programme on ‘Animal and Poultry Health Management’ on March 18, 2026, in collaboration with ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal, funded by ICAR-CRPVD, Bengaluru under the NEH component.
Professor and head, department of VGO, Dr. A. Palanisammi, and professor and head, Department of VSR, Dr. S.K. Maiti, encouraged farmers to follow routine vaccination and deworming and adopt scientific approaches to improve livestock and poultry productivity.
Dean of the college, Dr. I. Shakuntala, emphasized the importance of acquiring technical knowledge on livestock and poultry health care management and urged farmers to produce maize, oil seeds, and green grass to reduce feed costs.
A technical session was held under various topics, including, ‘Transboundary diseases of farm livestock and control measures’, ‘Awareness on antimicrobial resistance and impact of antibiotic usage in food animals and poultry’, and ‘Vaccination and deworming of farm animals and poultry,’ were delivered by dept. of VGO, assistant professor, Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, dept. of VPT, assistant professor, Dr. W. Ramdas Singh, and dept. of VCC, assistant professor, Dr. Keneisezo Kuotsu respectively.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Tukheswar Chutia, coordinator of the programme. The vote of thanks was delivered by assistant professor, department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, Dr. Bhabesh Mili.
Inputs such as poultry feeders and waterers, livestock feed, vitamins, minerals, liver tonics, calcium & iron tonics, potas, and antiseptic ointments and sprays were distributed to the farmers.
A total of 30 farmers from Peren participated in the programme.
