East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has issued a press release following a meeting convened on March 19, 2026 between the East Dimapur Town Public Organisation and EDTC at EDTC Office Conference Hall. The meeting discussed the impending cessation of sanitation services scheduled to take effect from April 1, 2026.
During the meeting, serious concerns were raised regarding the absence of a designated dumping site for waste management. It was highlighted that without an immediate solution, the discontinuation of sanitation services will lead to severe public inconvenience and environmental hazards.
The East Dimapur Town Public Organisation strongly urged the concerned department to treat the matter with urgency and allocate a suitable dumping site for the EDTC at the earliest.
Further, EDTC stated that failure to address the issue may leave the public with no alternative but to resort to indiscriminate disposal of waste along roadsides, posing significant health and sanitation risks. The EDTC also stated that it shall not be held responsible for any mismanagement of waste disposal by the public from April 1, 2026.
EDTC stated that the statement has been issued for the information of the general public and the concerned authorities.
