SIFF to debut from March 25

The first-ever Shillong International Film Festival (SIFF) will be held from March 25 to 27 at the city’s Convention Centre in Meghalaya, aiming to promote cinema and cultural exchange in the Northeast.
The festival will bring together filmmakers, artists and enthusiasts, showcasing films from Northeastern states and international entries from Bhutan and Vietnam.
The event will feature workshops for aspiring filmmakers, focusing on storytelling, filmmaking techniques and editing. Master classes will be conducted by Dominic Sangma and Arnab Gayan.
A key highlight is the Student Short Film Competition, designed to encourage and showcase the creative voices of young filmmakers across Meghalaya. Open to students from schools, colleges and universities.
This year’s theme, “Beyond Borders,” invites participants to reflect on ideas of identity, culture, connection, landscape and shared human experiences. Students can submit both fiction and non-fiction films, offering fresh perspectives shaped by their lived experiences.
