‘Bhumi Supokshan Awam Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan’ launched in Nagaland

The nationwide month-long campaign “Bhumi Supokshan Awam Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan,” focusing on soil health management and sustainable farming, was launched on March 19, by union minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The campaign will continue until April 19, 2026.
To mark the launch, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur organized a live viewing of the programme, attended by 38 farmers from Dhansiripar and Hazadisa villages. The campaign aims to raise awareness about soil health, balanced nutrient management, and appropriate agricultural practices during this critical period of the agricultural calendar.
Farmers listened to the minister’s address, which emphasized soil conservation, proper fertilizer use, and sustainable farming to enhance productivity and maintain long-term soil fertility. KVK Dimapur, senior scientist and head, Dr. Phool Kumari, along with KVK officials, interacted with participants and highlighted various practices for maintaining soil health during the March–April season, including soil testing, organic matter management, and balanced application of nutrients.
