White House: Trump, Munir hold phone talks on Iran crisis.

The White House confirmed that US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asif Munir over the Iran war, without disclosing details due to the sensitivity of the talks. Pakistan has pitched Islamabad as a possible venue for US-Iran discussions.

Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, conveying Eid and Nowruz greetings, condolences for lives lost, and stressing the need for de-escalation and dialogue. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to play a constructive role in regional peace.

Trump signalled a temporary pause in military escalation, delaying strikes on Iran’s power infrastructure after “productive” conversations with Tehran. Iran denied direct negotiations but acknowledged receiving US messages through intermediaries.

Analysts described the diplomatic efforts as preliminary messaging rather than structured negotiations.
