12th Inter Departmental Tourney concludes in Mon

DIMAPUR, Mar 23 (NPN):

The 12th Inter Departmental Tournament 2026, organised by the Officers’ Club Mon, concluded with great enthusiasm at the Officers’ Club premises on March 21. Superintendent of Police, Mon, Kanchan Kumar Kanpal graced the closing ceremony as the special guest.
According to a DIPR report, the overall championship title was clinched by DEF Mon, while DEO Mon secured the runner-up position. Highlights of winners: In Badminton (Men’s Singles): L. Lokshem (DEF) won the title while in women’s singles, Yaom B. Konyak (Youth Resources & District Administration) was the winner.
In mixed doubles, Lima Pongen & Ngonlem (H&FW) emerged as the winner, while in men’s doubles, Chemkhah Y. Konyak & M. Samuel Yim (6th NAP) were the winner.
In Carrom women’s singles, Liyuh (DEF Mon) took the title, while in men’s singles, K. Wanghrong (DIET) was the winner. In the double women’s doubles, Yeihying & Leye (DEF) emerged victorious while in men’s doubles, Yanao & K. Poman (DEF Mon) were the winner.
In the futsal, DEO Mon ernged as the champion while DEF Mon were the runners-up. The Golden Ball award was bagged by Themrieh (DEO); Golden Boot by L. Akai Konyak (DEO); and Golden Gloves by Atzing (DEF). In his address, the Superintendent of Police expressed gratitude to the organising committee and highlighted the importance of such events in fostering unity and camaraderie among departments. He assured continued support from the Police department in future tournaments.
The programme was chaired by assistant professor at Wangkhao Government College, Rongsennungla Pongen. The invocation was offered by pastor Lipok Pongen of Mon Town Ao Baptist Church. Cultural highlights included a special song by Yangman Lukhim and a dance performance by The Humble. The vote of thanks was delivered by SDO (C) Mon and Member Secretary of Officers’ Club Mon, Ajit Kumar.
