A vibrant four-day art workshop featuring calligraphy, drawing, and painting kicked off on Wednesday at the Living Word Centre in Dimapur, bringing together budding artists and creative enthusiasts under one roof.
Organized by Wandering Minds in collaboration with Living Word Centre, the initiative aims to encourage participants to step away from their fast-paced digital routines and reconnect with creativity through hands-on artistic expression.
Speaking with Nagaland Post, visual artist Alex, one of the key organizers, shared that the workshop is designed to help individuals slow down and experience the emotional depth of art. “We want people to take a break from the digital world, touch colours, and truly feel the passion and emotion that art brings,” he said.
The workshop, which runs daily from 3 PM to 5 PM, is open to participants of all age groups. Currently, nine participants have enrolled, with organizers expecting more to join in the coming days. A team of around ten mentors—comprising experienced artists, art teachers, and students from Wandering Minds—are guiding the sessions.
Participants are provided with all necessary materials as part of the registration fee of Rs. 4,000.
Adding a special highlight to the program, organizers announced an exhibition on April 2 at the same venue, where participants will have the opportunity to showcase their artwork. The exhibition, open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm will begin with a short inaugural programme.
Organizers also emphasized their broader vision of promoting art across Nagaland and the Northeast. “Art is still growing here, but we believe that with time, more people will appreciate its value. Our goal is to inspire the next generation to embrace art as an essential part of life and education,” Alex added.
Registrations for the workshop are ongoing and can be completed both online and on the spot.
