Independent candidate Imchatoba Imchen on Thursday announced that he has been allotted the ‘bricks’ symbol for the upcoming by-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly Constituency.
Addressing a press briefing at Hotel Magnus conference hall, Imchen, accompanied by his chief agent Temjenyanger of Khensa, outlined his vision for the constituency. He stated that his priorities include youth and women empowerment, strengthening the role of students and youth, creating opportunities for the unemployed, and ensuring overall socio-economic development.
He also emphasised the need for peaceful coexistence and a practical, people-centric approach to resolving the Naga political issue.
Imchen said he is contesting the election with a clear vision for the “prosperity and progress” of the constituency, with special focus on empowering youth and women.
Highlighting agriculture and allied sectors as key areas, he noted that nearly 70 per cent of the constituency’s population are farmers.
Extending his best wishes to other candidates, he appealed to the electorate to ensure a free and fair election. He further urged voters to support him if they find him capable of representing the constituency.
During the briefing, Imchen also shared his background, noting his association with organisations such as the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang, the Naga Students’ Federation, and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation. He also served as president of the NPF Central Youth Wing.
