National People’s Party (NPP) candidate I Abenjang on Thursday declared his candidature for the 28 Koridang A/C by-election at Longkhum village, his native place.
Declaring his candidature, Abenjang expressed gratitude to the party for allotting him the ticket, stating that it reflected the trust and confidence reposed in him. He expressed hope that the by-election would usher in a “political resurrection” for the constituency, enabling Koridang to emerge as a united and strong front.
He said that his decision to enter politics was driven by his love for the people and strongly advocated non-violence during the election process. Abenjang emphasised the need for a peaceful and calm atmosphere during the polls.
The programme was attended by several speakers, including Vevoyi Wideo, national vice president of NPP, along with well-wishers and members of the village council (Putu Menden), who also addressed the gathering.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed from the Returning Officer’s office that one of the standby candidates, Wabangmeren (Independent), withdrew his candidature on March 25.
