The Saptarang–North East Cultural Society of Canada, a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, is working to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of India’s North Eastern states while fostering a sense of belonging among the diaspora in Canada.
Dedicated to representing the traditions of the “Eight Sister States,” the organization serves a dual purpose: introducing the vibrant cultural identity of North East India to the Canadian mainstream and creating a supportive community for people from the region living abroad.
Leaders of the society describe their initiative as an effort to build a “home away from home” for individuals arriving from North East India, helping them stay connected to their roots while integrating into Canadian society.
In a recent milestone, the organization hosted its first North East Women’s Day event. The event was attended by the Consulate General of India in Vancouver, Masakui Rungsung, along with representatives including Teen Earth Canada 2025.
