The Department of industries and commerce, government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (NIDC), organized four days technology clinic on ‘Industrial sewing & production acceleration’ under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme with technical support by Mongken, Sovima.
The clinic brought together 47 MSMEs from across Nagaland which was held from March 25 to 28, at Mongken, Sovima comprising of two batches. Each batch underwent a two-day technology clinic programme.
Under the coordination of the RAMP team and with the active guidance of floor manager Putuinla and designer Zarenthung, the clinic delivered comprehensive hands-on training on advanced machinery and modern production techniques.
Participants gained practical insights into precision-based garment manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on enhancing stitching quality, streamlining workflows through modular production systems and leveraging automation to improve productivity. The programme further emphasized the critical role of quality control systems and production engineering in achieving consistency, efficiency and competitiveness within the garment industry.
The RAMP Scheme, a World Bank-supported initiative of the Government of India, aims to strengthen MSMEs by improving access to markets, facilitating credit availability and building technical capacity. In Nagaland, where MSMEs are steadily transitioning towards modernization, such technology clinics play a vital role in equipping entrepreneurs with practical knowledge and exposure to industry-relevant technologies.
This initiative significantly contributes to strengthening the local garmenting sector by promoting efficiency, innovation and quality-driven production. It also supports the broader objective of post-pandemic economic recovery by enabling MSMEs to adopt advanced technologies and remain competitive in an evolving industrial landscape.
