The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) convened a meeting with civil society organizations based in Dimapur to deliberate on the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, with a focus on source segregation of waste.
The meeting was attended by representatives from several organizations, including the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), DUCCF, DCCI, Dimapur Naga Women Hoho, GBs associations, and the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU).
According to a press release issued by DMC chief executive officer Thungchanbemo Tungoe, the council will launch an awareness campaign from April 1 in certain wards, which will gradually be expanded to cover all wards under its jurisdiction.
During the meeting, participating organizations assured their full cooperation and support in ensuring effective implementation of the rules. The DMC also informed that it will soon issue specific guidelines in line with the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, particularly addressing the segregation of waste at source.
