Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has stated that the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) is a vital legislative instrument to safeguard the sovereignty, integrity and democratic fabric of the nation by ensuring that foreign contributions do not adversely influence domestic political, social or economic processes.
In a statement, LJP (RV) national secretary S. Richard Humtsoe said the party emphasized the need to preserve the operational autonomy of genuine civil society organisations, non-governmental institutions and philanthropic bodies contributing to grassroots development, humanitarian assistance and social welfare. It said implementation of FCRA must be nuanced and distinguish between legitimate developmental engagement and activities prejudicial to national interest.
The party asserted that regulatory frameworks should not become instruments of undue constraint or administrative overreach, but must ensure transparency, accountability and procedural fairness. It advocated a consultative and participatory approach in refining implementation mechanisms so that stakeholders’ concerns are addressed.
It also highlighted that FCRA, 2010 regulates foreign funding to NGOs, associations and individuals to ensure it does not affect national security or political processes.
Further, the party stressed the need for periodic review of compliance procedures to reduce bureaucratic complexities, enhance clarity and foster trust between the state and civil society.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) reiterated its commitment to a policy framework that upholds national security while supporting the role of civil society in strengthening democratic resilience and development.
