DC Mokokchung holds coordination meet for by-election

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma along with Senior Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Vesupro Kezo and other government officials, visited Mangmetong village on April 4, 2026, for a coordination meeting with the village council members in connection with the forthcoming bye-election to the 28 (ST) Koridang Assembly Constituency.
According to DIPR report, the meeting was held at Panchayat Bhavan, Mangmetong.
Interacting with the council members, the DC reiterated that the village council was an authorised institution under the government and should therefore function without restriction while carrying out its responsibilities in connection with the by-election.
He urged the members to be judicious in performing their duties.
Verma further reminded that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), as laid down by the Election Commission of India (ECI), has been enforced. He stressed that all governmental electioneering machinery must take every measure to ensure a free and fair conduct of the election process. Addressing the gathering, Nockpai Konyak, SDO (C) Mokokchung and Returning Officer for the by-election, also highlighted that the MCC is in effect under the constituency and requested all concerned to adhere strictly to the procedures.
