Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) observed Resurrection Sunday on April 5 at its church premises, calling for a renewed and resurrected life.
At the morning service, Dr. Chikhungo Puro spoke on the theme “The Risen King” and urged the congregation to seek God faithfully, assuring that sincere devotion would lift burdens. In the evening service, Rev. Dr. Kevekhalo Lasuh delivered a sermon on “The Returning King.” The morning and evening worship services were led by Neposo Thelüo and Zhopota Rhakho respectively. Special songs were presented by Vekrelü Chüzho, PWD Cezo Mepu, Kenuozou Cezo Mepu and Sepfüzou Cezo Mepu.
Meanwhile, St. Xavier Parish Jalukie celebrated Easter and the Triduum, a three-day period of prayer and devotion in preparation for Easter. Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter were observed across Jalukie, Jalukie B, Samziuram, Nkwareu, Mhainamtsi, Heningkunglwa, Ikesingram and Jalukielo.
Parish Priest Rev. Fr. C.J. Jaison, assisted by Rev. Fathers Leavi, Binoy, John, Francis, David, Godfrey, George, Pravin and Carolus, prepared the communities for the solemn observances. At Ikesingram Mission, Rev. Fr. C. Joseph, Counsellor of St. Joseph’s College, preached during the three-day preparation. On Maundy Thursday, the washing of the feet (Jn 13:4-17) was conducted to reflect Christ’s humility. Good Friday was marked by the Way of the Cross, while Easter—the high point of the Christian year celebrating Christ’s triumph over death—was observed with solemnity in Ikesingram and Khelma.
