The chief electoral officer (CEO) Nagaland, Bhagyashree Banayat, has notified that the campaigning period for the by-election to the 28 Koridang (ST) assembly constituency would conclude at 4pm on April 7, 2026. In a press release, CEO Nagaland notified that the following activities would be strictly prohibited after campaign period ends.
1) Convening, holding, attending, joining, or addressing any public meeting or procession connected with the election.
2) Displaying any election matter to the public through cinematograph, television, or any similar apparatus.
3) Propagating any election matter by organizing or arranging musical concerts, theatrical performances, or any other form of entertainment or amusement intended to attract the public.
CEO Nagaland cautioned that any person found violating the provisions would be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
Further, the CEO stated that no campaigning of any kind would take place within the constituency after the closure of the campaign period.
Additionally, CEO has directed political functionaries and party workers brought from outside the constituency who are not registered voters of 28 Koridang (ST) AC to not remain present in the constituency after the campaign period ends.
The district administration and police have also been directed to ensure that all such external political functionaries and workers leave the constituency immediately after 4pm on April 7, 2026.
